Scrambling in The Lake District, Wales & Scotland
Kendal Mountaineering Services offer scrambling courses in The Lake District, North Wales (Snowdonia National Park) and Scotland. These fall into two categories - introduction to leading scrambles or guided scrambling days.
Scrambling is the fastest growing outdoor activity in Britain and the best way to learn these basic scrambling skills is to come on a course with KMS. You can either choose to be guided up a scramble of your choice by one of our experts or learn the art of safely getting up a mountain away from the crowds. With KMS you won't just be hauled up a rock, but you'll learn how to safely add excitement to your peak bagging. KMS will teach you how to select and assess suitable belays, place proctection where needed and develop those judgement skills to decide when to move together quickly or pitch parts of the route.
The best way to learn these basic scrambling skills is to come on a course with KMS. You can learn the techniques of safe scrambling in our 2 day introduction to scrambling course. Here you will learn basic ropework techniques such as tying on and short roping through to more technical skills such as those required for assessing and selecting suitable belays, placing running belays where needed and developing those judgement skills to decide when to move together quickly or pitch parts of the route.

There are so many areas in the UK to choose from whether it be classic routes in North Wales, Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis, Pinnacle Ridge in The Lake District or a compete traverse of the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. We can provide the equipment, the experience and the enthusiasm to deliver a fantastic experience.
